Bust of Ferdinand Marcos
In 1978 a huge 30 meter concrete bust of Ferdinand Marcos  was erected in the city of Benguet in the Philippines.
The Philippine Tourism Authority constructed the monument which was meant to be the centerpiece of Marcos Park.
The bust was not very well recieved by the public as it was a reminder of the rule of the murderous tyrant Ferdinand Marcos. The construction of the bust also meant the relocation of a lot of local people who had properties bought from them by the government at unreasonable prices.
The bust was eventually destroyed in 2002 by treasure hunters who believed some of Ferdinand Marcos' fortune was buried inside. The remains of the monument has been slowly deteriating ever since.
